Bridesmaid Lunchons - Trend Tuesday

Posted on July 10, 2013 at 12:35 AM Comments comments (0)

One of the most popular and perhaps one of the most thoughtful trends as of late are bridesmaid’s luncheons. What better way to thank your lovely ladies than to treat them to an afternoon of refreshments and pleasantries. But what mixture of elements create the best lady’s afternoon? Essence of Events, LLC is here to help you decide. Traditionally, the luncheon is held on the afternoon before the wedding and usually provides sustenance and energy for the rehearsal. First and foremost, this is a luncheon so a delectable menu is a must. If the luncheon is held at a restaurant, then the menu is already decided for you. But if you’re hosting in a private home, then food stations create a lovely and functional focal point.

It is important to keep the food light and satisfying, it is after all a lunch, but there’s no reason you and your girls can’t indulge in a little delicious dessert.

Also, this is the perfect time for cake charms! Each bridesmaid pulls a charm from the bottom layer of the cake. Different symbols represent different fortunes. Like a ring which means she’s the next to get married or a carriage which means she’s the next to have a baby.

With all the fantastic food, your ladies will need something to quench their thirst. Take this opportunity to display adorable drinks and be sure to offer nonalcoholic options.

This is an all lady occasion so feel free to make the décor and table settings as dainty and feminine as you please!

Take advantage of having all of your ladies together before your big day and go ahead and present them with their bridesmaid’s gifts.

And be sure to dine with your ladies in your favorite feminine fashions!

Anniversary Shoots - Sunday Snapshots/Photography

Posted on July 7, 2013 at 4:30 AM Comments comments (0)

You’ve said the I-do’s and now you’re married and starting to settle into wedded life, but before you know it another big event is going to roll around pretty quickly. No, I’m not talking about an addition to the family, but your first anniversary together as husband and wife.

This is a momentous occasion, and one you should seriously consider documenting. If you loved your wedding photographer, have him or her shoot some great anniversary shots as keepsakes of your first year together; much like an engagement shoot.

For inspiration, check out some of the great images below.

A banner with the amount of years you have been married is a great option, especially if you incorporated this trend into your wedding.

The sky is the limit with this lovely snapshot. Incorporate idioms like this into your photoshoot and you’re set!

If you have been married or together for a number of years, including photos from previous anniversaries together is a wonderful idea.

Reserve space in a photo frame for future photos. Make it a tradition to keep going back to your wedding photographer for important family portraits.

Each year take a picture of the two of you together holding a picture of you from the previous year. Imagine what it would look like in 50 years!

Cute signs are so chic right now!

Each year you can do a new version of the same picture; call it a custom or ritual!

Menu Cards - Saturday Stationary

Posted on July 6, 2013 at 4:30 AM Comments comments (0)

When guests attend the wedding, the menu is one of the last things they think about. What’s on the menu, sure, but the actual tactile menu that they will hold in their hands, perhaps not.

Gone are the days of fancy menu cards, instead couples are opting for a more fun approach with quirky and witty cards telling their guests what they will be noshing on instead. No matter how formal the reception, there is always a unique way to blend styles these days. Read on and check out some great options below.

Boards are perfect when you have a buffet or for cocktail hour. Guests know exactly what is being served and what their options are.

The typography on this menu card is amazing, and bonus! It serves as a place card holder!

Your parents always warned you never to play with your food, but I think in this case we can make an exception.

Incorporate your menu into your table décor.

Geometric shaped menu cards are modern and fun.

This is a great way to hold those utensils. Multipurpose and functional designs are always the best.

Use your menu as a placemat.

Print your menu right on snack bags for a fun time for everyone, serve them up during cocktail hour for a great preview.

For those still wanting to add sophistication to their menu, try using napkins as a decorative element.

For vendors and stationers who can assist you with creating your perfect menu card, and for all of your wedding related needs, contact Essence of Events to set up your free, initial consultation today. Call 253.292.1482 or email us at contact@essenceofevents.com
