Presents for your Bridal Party - Gift Saturday

Posted on May 18, 2013 at 2:15 PM Comments comments (0)

Your bridesmaids and maid of honor are your best and closest friends and family members in the world. You selected them to help you through this journey, and they’ve been with you since the beginning. Not just the beginning of wedding planning, but since quite possibly since you were a young girl.

Now you need to select a gift to give your gals that shows them how much you love them, and how appreciative you are. From helping you plan, to selecting decor, and dealing with your mammoth breakdowns when the baker couldn’t provide you with that specific shade of pink frosting, they’ve been there for you.

A nice pen isn’t going to cut it, this token of your appreciation needs to be heartfelt and something that they can look at and smile.

All of these gifts are from Kate Spade, because I love their quality, colorful, and quirky products. Your bridal party will be utterly thrilled to receive one of these lovely, wedding-theme gifts.

These cute bangles are engraved with idioms like “peas in a pod,” “partners in crime,” “sidekicks,” “two of a kind,” “birds of a feather,” and “perfect pair.” On the inside it reads “best friend ever.” Available in gold, rose gold, and silver.

Say thank you to your bridal party for helping you tie the knot, by getting them these sailors knot bracelets.

These cosmetic purses are not only sure to bring a smile to the faces of your friends, but they are also practical for the wedding day. If you’re planning on a girl’s weekend before the big day, these makeup bags are a must.

Kate Spade also has jewelry, accessories, and other items for you as a bride as well that is adorable, so while you’re shopping for your friends, make sure to buy something for yourself, too!

“Yes” and “Mrs” necklaces. Both are available in silver and gold. You’ll wear these to all your pre and post-wedding events.

These necklaces are also both available in silver and gold. While you’re treating your friends, you might as well treat yourself!

Kate Spade also carries a wide assortment of other wedding related accessories, including this passport holder and these fantastic shoes. Check out the wedding section of their website by clicking here, for day-of jewelry, purses, and much more.

Gold Cakes - Food Friday

Posted on May 17, 2013 at 8:35 AM Comments comments (0)

So I need to confess something. I have a slight obsession with gold cake. That probably sounds very strange, but once you see these phenomenal cakes, you’ll completely understand what I’m talking about.

Gold cakes are definitely the new trend in wedding desserts, and no, before you ask, they are not made from solid gold, although some cakes are dusted with 24 Karat gold leaf.* I wonder what that tastes like.

Check out this new trend below, and see if you become as fanatical as I am:

*Crown jewels not included.

Even if gold cakes aren’t your style, at Essence of Events, LLC we would still be happy to talk about what kind of cake, dessert, food, or other wedding ideas you have in mind. To set up your free, one hour initial consultation, email us at contact@essenceofevents.com or call us at 253.292.1482

Great Gatsby Wedding - Theme Thursday

Posted on May 16, 2013 at 9:50 AM Comments comments (0)

The Great Gatsby is officially out in theaters, and at Essence of Events, we couldn’t be more excited. Being a Baz Luhrmann production, it’s going to be full of drama, romance, and some good old fashioned, movie making razzle dazzle that is so Hollywood, so Gatsby, and so perfect for a wedding.

Every wedding needs sparkle, and so this movie, like the roaring twenties, has handed it to us on a gilded platter, with a champagne flute next to it, for good measure!

This couple has decided to jump on board with the big trend of a Gatsby wedding, and has put their own Luhrmann-esque twist on their day.

The table settings.

I love the vintage plates and menu cards.

The dessert table at this wedding will be the envy of sweet lovers across the globe.

Sweet details are in every aspect of this wedding, even down to the cupcake liners.

Champagne jello shots, delicious and fun!

Crème Brulee in vintage champagne glasses, I cannot get over how beautiful this looks, let alone how amazing it must taste.

More desserts, with an art deco design, plus the couple’s name and wedding date.

A custom hanger for the wedding dress. You can also get ones that say “Mother of the Bride,” “Maid of Honor,” and all your bridesmaid’s names. A sweet and thoughtful gift.

The bride and groom, looking appropriately dressed to match their theme.

Involving Your Children - Wedding Wednesday

Posted on May 15, 2013 at 10:05 AM Comments comments (0)

Families come in all shapes and sizes, and today’s blog post is going to focus on those kinds of families. Couples who have kids and want to involve them in their wedding might have a few questions about how to go about doing that. Sometimes it might be two families coming together; sometimes it might be one parent and their child with someone else coming in; and other times a pregnancy might be in the mix. Whatever your situation, here are a few tips to make your children feel included:

Refer to it as “Our Wedding Day:” Our means the whole family, when everyone came together and promised to be a part of everyone’s lives.

Involve them in the planning: Let the kids come cake tasting with you (I guarantee this will be their favorite part!) and let them pick out their clothes. You might have your own ideas, so with some careful nudging, you can probably steer them in the direction where you want to go. Let them help with catering choices too. If you’re planning on having a super formal reception, at least provide some children’s options, because kids aren’t going to know what to do with caviar, except know to say “ew!”

Give them a job: If they are old enough, a ring bearer, or flower girl would be perfect for your little girl or boy. This makes them feel important.

Make them feel special on the big day: This is not just your day, but theirs, too. This is when the family becomes officially bonded. Let your little man get ready with the guys, and if you have a girl, I’m sure she would be so excited to get her hair done with you ladies. If you have a little gift for them, you could give it to them at the ceremony (jewelry or something sentimental) to let them know they are in your hearts.

Let them invite a special guest: If you aren’t planning on having kids at your wedding, let them invite a few of their friends. This works out well especially if you know they’ll probably invite the children of your friends. It is also important to make the reception kid-friendly by allowing them to pick a few of their favorite songs to play.
